Lawyers for former President Donald Trump and other defendants have filed a request to remove the Fulton County District Attorney, Fanni Willis, from the case, claiming that there is a conflict of interest in the prosecution by Ms. Willis. The defense has accused Ms. Willis of benefitting financially from a relationship with the lead prosecutor that she hired to manage the case – Mr. Nathan Wade. In short, lawyers for Mr. Trump and other defendants are claiming that Mr. Wade paid for expensive trips to Belize, Aruba, Tennessee and California, for himself and Ms. Willis, while they were dating. A Fulton County judge must now decide if Ms. Willis will be removed from the case. If she is removed, it would certainly delay the case, and could possibly derail the prosecution of Mr. Trump and other defendants in the Georgia election interference case.
