Hunter Biden, the President’s son, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Delaware, charging him with: Making a False Statement in Purchase of a Firearm, carrying a penalty of up to 10 years in federal prison; False Statement on a Federal Firearms Application, carrying a penalty of up to 5 years in federal prison; and, Possession of a Firearm by an Unlawful User of a Controlled Substance, carrying a penalty of up to 10 years in federal prison, The gun charges are related to whether Mr. Biden lied on a federal form that he was required to complete when he purchased a .38 caliber handgun in Delaware in 2018. The prosecutors’ claim that at the time of the purchase, Mr. Biden was either a user or addicted to drugs or alcohol at the time he purchased the gun. Federal law prohibits persons who are an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance, from purchasing a firearm. An arraignment will be set by the court in which Mr. Biden is anticipated to plead not guilty to the charges. In addition to this indictment, Mr. Biden still faces the possibility of additional charges for the late filing of his tax returns, and an investigation in to his foreign business activities.
