A New York state court judge has refused former President Donald Trump’s last ditch effort to delay his hush-money trial. Trump’s legal team requested a delay in the trial until after the U.S. Supreme Court rules on whether he is immune from prosecution for official acts that he took while he was president. The Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments in that case in April, 2024, but they may not issue a ruling until June, 2024. The New York trial judge denied the request for a delay of the trial as untimely, and noted that the issues in the present case were “state issues”, not matters for the Supreme Court.
